The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed their very first rookie from the 2013 NFL Draft. The Steelers signed fourth round pick Safety Shamarko Thomas, from Sryacuse. Thomas has impressed Steelers’ coaches quickly. Defensive backs coach Carnell Lake said that if Thomas was just two inches taller, then he would have been a first round selection. Last weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted nine players in the 2013 NFL Draft. Guys who they believe will help their team in the future and years to come. On Friday, the Steelers held their first day of rookie minicamp where the Steelers got their first chance to get them in the classroom and onto the practice field.
There were a total of 41 players in attendance on the first day of minicamp. Some players got the chance to talk to the media, and the media got the chance to see the new rookies for the first time in a Steelers helmet. The sixth round is now over, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are digging deep into their scouting to find the best available. They had two more selections in the sixth round starting with Oklahoma wide receiver Justin Brown (186 overall). Brown a teammate with 4th round quarterback Landry Jones with the Sooners, who was also drafted by the black and gold.
The last pick in the sixth round was pick 206th overall.The Steelers used that selection to take Florida State linebacker Vince Williams. We are now down to just one pick remaining for the Steelers in the 2013 NFL Draft.
