The NFL handed out their yearly compensatory picks for the up and coming 2016 Draft. The league awards compensatory picks to any team they deem lost more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year.This year the NFL gave the Steelers a 6th round pick the 220th overall, the 45th pick in the sixth round.
The pick was given as compensation for the loss of free agent cornerback Brice McCain who was signed by the Miami Dolphins in 2015.
The Steelers now have 7 picks in the 2016 NFL draft. They dealt away their 5th round pick in last years trade for cornerback Brandon Boykin and their original 6th round pick for kicker Josh Scobee. The Steelers have two 7th round picks this year after dealing punter Brad Wing to the Giants in exchange for their 7th round pick.
The NFL draft is April 28-30.
