The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t take long to make their first splash into the 2016 NFL free agency pool.
After a day of speculation, today the Steelers made it official, as they announced the signing of tight end Ladarius Green.
Green ,25 entered the NFL as a fourth round pick (110th overall) of the San Diego Chargers in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Louisiana-Lafayette. He ran a 4.56 in the 40 and scored a 34.5 inch vertical jump at the 2012 NFL combine. At 6-5 and 3/4 and weighing about 240 those are some very impressive stats.
Green had spent all 4 of his NFL seasons with the Chargers completing his best season in 2015 , collecting 37 catches for 429 yards and 4 touchdowns. He has a career total of 26 NFL starts, 77 catches for 1087 yards and 7 touchdowns.Green will wear number 80 as a Steeler.
The Steelers are hoping the addition of Ladarius Green at the tight end position will give them the veteran weapon they are lacking with the retirement of Heath Miller.
