The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 9-5 as the defeated the Denver Broncos 34-27 in a battle that turned out to be a tale of two halves.
Let’s now take a look at the Good, the Bad,& the Ugly of the game…
The Steelers had a rough first half but made up for it with a very good second half.
The Steelers overcame a 27-13 Denver lead at the half to out score the Broncos 21-0 in the second half and get the victory 34-27.
QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 40 of 55 passes for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns. WR Antonio Brown had another outstanding outing with a whopping 16 receptions for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
WR Martavis Bryant had 10 catches for 87 . WR Markus Wheaton had 6 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. RB DeAngelo Williams had a rushing touchdown and now has 9 for the season.
The Steelers offense continued its record pace of scoring by once again scoring over 30 points .
On defense the Steelers began slow but finished strong. DE Cam Heyward and LB Lawrence Timmons both had sacks and S Will Allen forced a fumble recovered by S Mike Mitchell . LB Ryan Shazier had an interception late In the game to help stop a Denver drive.
The bottom line here is the Steelers started off slow but found a way to get the job done.
The Steelers gave up too many easy big plays in the first half, while also giving up 27 points . The Steelers must be more consistent and do a better job communicating in the secondary. It’s too late in the season to have this many mental mistakes .
The Steelers offense must not take a whole half to warm up and get on track. From here on out they must start and finish games better on both sides of the ball.
The Steelers were on the brink of losing this game for more than 3 quarters and losing their grip on a 2015 playoff spot. They must play smart football from begining to end from here on out.
