The Steelers are now 7-5 as they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 45 -10. Let’s now take a look at the Good, the Bad & the Ugly of the game…
The Pittsburgh Steelers played what may have been their most complete game of the season so far ,as they dominated the Indianapolis Colts in all three phases of the game.
On offense the Steelers tallied 522 total yards on offense . We will start with Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger completed 24/39 for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns. He ended the game with a quarterback rating of 126.4.
Ben Roethlisberger is playing the best football of his great career and is at the top of his game.
Roethlisberger had lots of help, starting with his #1 wide receiver Antonio Brown . Brown caught 8 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Brown also is at the top of his game and is without a doubt the top wide receiver in the NFL . Brown also had a touchdown on a punt return to cap off another great performance.
Wide receiver Martavis Bryant made another big play and may be one of the leagues best deep threats. Bryant caught 4 passes for 114 yards including a 68 yard touchdown catch.
Markus Wheaton also continues to show that he is a force to be reckoned with catching 3 passes for 50 yards including a 5 yard touchdown pass.
The Steelers really hit the jackpot when they decided to sign running back DeAngelo Williams to back up Le’Veon Bell . Williams is filling in nicely and having one heck of a season. He ran the ball 26 times for 134 yards for a 5.2 yard average. He also had 5 catches 31 yards.
The Steelers defense showed up big time. Collecting 5 sacks, 2 interceptions, a fumble recovery and holding the Colts offense to 240 total yards and 10 points.
Linebacker Jarvis Jones had a key red zone interception. Cornerback Brandon Boykin saw his first real action and had his first interception as a Pittsburgh Steeler.
Outside linebacker James Harrison had a monster game with 3 sacks, a forced fumble and 7 tackles.
The bottom line is the Steelers had there best all around team effort and it could not come at a better time as they fight for their playoff lives.
The Steelers have tried and tried but still can not find a kick or punt returner. The Jacoby Jones experiment has been a huge failure and he was benched during this game after fumbling two returns in the first half. The Steelers search for a quality returner who is not a starter will have to continue but options are now limited.
The fact that the Steelers are using their best offensive weapon Antonio Brown to regularly return punts is a dangerous gamble. Let’s hope that Brown remains healthy or the situation will get a whole lot uglier.
