The injury bug continues to bite the 2015 Pittsburgh Steelers on what seems to be a weekly basis. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered yet another game ending injury midway through the 4th quarter of the Steeler’s 38-35 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Roethlisberger was sacked and had his foot rolled up on in the process. He then had to be carted off to the locker-room and later left the stadium for further evaluation.
Initial reports claim that Roethlisberger suffered a mid foot sprain and could miss a few weeks.
The Steelers will rely on back up quarterback Landry Jones for next weeks game against the Cleveland Browns before having their bye week in week 11, If initial reports hold true its possible Ben Roethlisberger could return in week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks depending on how the injury responds to treatment.
ESPN reporter Adam Schefter tweeted this about the injury Sunday evening…
Ben Roethlisberger has a mid-foot sprain and is expected to be sidelined “a few weeks”, per source.
Steelers initially suspected Ben Roethlisberger suffered LisFranc injury; feel relieved he didn’t. Steelers play Browns next week before bye
Sounds like Ben Roethlisberger misses next Sunday’s game vs. Browns, takes bye week to rest, then likely to return Week 12 at Seattle.
The Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin should have a further update on the Roethlisberger situation during Tomlin’s weekly press conference Tuesday.
