The Pittsburgh Steelers dropped to 4-4 as they let another divisional game slip through their fingers. The Steelers defense played well enough to win but the offense just could’nt get on track when it counted as the Bengals won 16-10.
Let’s now take a look at the Good, The Bad, & the The Ugly of the game …
The Steelers defense was definitely a bright spot forcing two turnovers and three sacks. Cornerback Antwon Blake and safety Mike Mitchell each had key interceptions. Defensive end Cam Heyward continues to have a monster year and is the undisputed leader of this Steeler defense. Heyward had a total of 3 tackles and blocked a field goal. Rookie linebacker Bud Dupree collected another sack, bringing his total to 4 in his first 8 games .
On offense “Mr. Reliable” tight end Heath Miller was very good . He tied a career high mark with 10 catches for 110 yards. Miller continues to be the most underrated tight end of his time.
The bottom line here is the Steelers defense once again was able to hold a high-powered offense to under 20 points and played above the line, despite the Steelers losing.
The Steelers offense was only able to manage 10 points and could not find a rhythm most of the game. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not have a good returning game, throwing three interceptions and ending the game with a quarterback rating 57.8. Be IT rust, the injury ,or just bad decision-making Roethlisberger and the offense must do a better job moving forward.
The Steelers as a team had 10 penalties for 91 yards many costly.
Good teams don’t commit stupid penalties. The Steelers must show better discipline.
Running Back Le’Veon Bell injured his right knee and is now out for the season, adding to a long list of key injuries through just 8 games.
This and the fact that the Steelers have let another divisional opponent slip away with a win are the ugly facts through the first half of the 2015 season.
