The Pittsburgh Steelers are now 4-3 after falling 23-13 to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Steelers began slow and just could not seem to ever get completely on track .
Let’s now take a look at the Good ,the Bad and the Ugly of the Steelers loss to the Chiefs…
This was definitely not one of the Steelers best performances but there was a bit of good to be seen .
Wide receiver Martavis Bryant continues to show stunning big play ability, week in and week out. He has a rare combination of speed and size and has an uncanny ability to make plays in the red zone. He had 3 catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. Bryant now has 11 career touchdowns in just 12 NFL games played.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown got back on track leading the Steelers in receiving with 6 catches for 124 yards.
Running back Le’Veon Bell had another good day running the football .Bell had 17 carries for 121 yards and a 7.1 yard average . He also had 4 catches for 16 yards.
On defense ,once again defensive end Cam Heyward was a disruptive force as he collected 4 tackles including a sack. Heyward has proven he is the leader of this defense on and off the field.
Kicker Chris Boswell kept his streak going as he is still perfect as a Steeler, making both his field goals from 24 yards and 36 yards.
Well, the question here is not if there was any bad but where to begin?
The Steelers once again missed too many tackles. The defense missed at least 20 tackles and that’s not going to win very many games.
The Steelers defense also did not force a single turnover. The Steelers offense on the other hand had 3 turnovers,a fumble and two interceptions.
The Chiefs came into the game as the worst third down converting offense in the league . However against the Steelers defense the Chiefs converted 9 of 16.
While the Steelers offense converted only 2 of 10.
The Steelers defense also allowed Chiefs running back Charcandrick West to run for 110 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown for an average of 5 yards a carry. That is below the line on defense.
The Steelers defense continued to have trouble stopping pass catching tight ends.Tight end Travis Kelce caught 5 passes for 73 yards making many key catches for first downs.
The bottom line is the Chiefs made more big plays on offense and defense than the Steelers.
The Steelers continue to play down to their competition, losing to more than a few horrible teams these past few seasons. This is an ugly trend that both the players and the coaches are responsible for and it must not continue to happen.
If it continues the Steelers will find themselves on the outside looking in ,come play-off time.
