Tomlin’s take…

Mike Tomlin: Tremendous effort from everyone in the room. Obviously, we needed contributions from everyone. It wasn’t perfect by any stretch, but the state that we’re in, we’re not expecting perfection. We just need to do what’s required for us to win and stand and fight. Guys did that. The units complemented each other.  The defense held its role until we could get some things going. It was just a really good effort by a lot of people. Some injuries, obviously, to speak of Kelvin Beachum has an ACL. That is what it is.Mike Vick had a hamstring injury. I don’t know the extent of that. Stephon Tuitt has a knee sprain that is being evaluated. All the others are bumps and bruises associated with playing. Just a tip of the cap to everyone in the room, in terms of what they were willing to do for us to secure the victory today. It required a tremendous effort. Obviously, Arizona is a great football team, well coached. We had an opportunity to rise up in a big way and we did. Hopefully, experiences like this galvanize the group and we’re able to grow from it moving forward. We have new weeks and new challenges waiting.

Steelers Players of the game…

♦ QB Landry Jones came in for an injured Mike Vick and completed 8 of 12 passes for 168 yards and a two of touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of  149.3. Jones gave the offense the spark it had been missing in the first half.

♦ WR  Martavis Bryant had 6 catches for 137 yards and two touchdown grabs. Bryant’s return gave the Steelers passing game an added big play factor.

♦ The Steelers defense had two interceptions in the game. LB Lawrence Timmons made a great one handed interception. S Mike Mitchell had a key interception late in the game to help seal the victory. Mitchell also recovered a fumble.

♦ LB James Harrison had 4 tackles, two for a loss , a sack and a forced fumble. Harrison proves again and again he is still a force on the defense.

♦ K  Chris Boswell hit all four of his field goal attempts of 51,48,47 and 28 yards. It was a great start for Boswell who kicked well in his first showing at Heinz Field ,even though the weather conditions were not ideal. Boswell also did well on kick-offs with 6 of 7 reaching the end zone and one touch back.
