Well Steeler Nation, the debate about whether or not Tom Brady plays in the Steelers season opener is now over .
Today, Judge Richard M. Berman overturned the 4 game NFL sanctioned suspension of New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady.
Judge Berman ruled that the NFL can’t suspend Brady for knowledge of a deflation scheme because Brady was not placed on proper notice of the possibility of a suspension for such conduct.
The NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement following the ruling…
Roger Goodell : “We are grateful to Judge Berman for hearing this matter, but respectfully disagree with today’s decision,we will appeal today’s ruling in order to uphold the collectively bargained responsibility to protect the integrity of the game. The commissioner’s responsibility to secure the competitive fairness of our game is a paramount principle, and the league and our 32 clubs will continue to pursue a path to that end. While the legal phase of this process continues, we look forward to focusing on football and the opening of the regular season.”
So Steeler Nation, it looks as though Tom Brady has avoided another major hit and will play the Steelers in Thursday night’s 2015 season opener after all .
Let’s just hope that the Steelers have their own brand of punishment ready for Brady and the Patriots!
