Tomlin’s Take…

Mike Tomlin: “This has become a preseason tradition for us, playing Carolina in the last preseason game,it’s the last opportunity for many men to state a case for themselves, or to be a part of this thing, or to define their roles within this thing as we move forward. We respect that. We respect that more than with our words but also with our actions. We have a lot of guys vying for spots. I look forward to watching them meet the challenge and show what they are capable of.”

Notes of the game…

<>The Steelers are not expected to play many starters at all in tonight’s preseason final .

<> Quarterback Michael Vick will start the game with Landry Jones set to finish up.

<> Running back  DeAngelo Williams and safety Mike Mitchell will be facing their old teammates as both  are former Carolina Panthers.

<> Carolina Panther wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is a former Steeler playing with the team from 2011-2013.

Who to watch in tonight’s Game…

<> The punting battle between Brad Wing and Jordan Berry is going down to the wire. Berry might have a slight edge after his good performance last week. It should be interesting to see how this one plays out tonight.

<> Running Back Josh Harris better show something tonight or his spot could be in jeopardy. Last week he failed to impress and he should get plenty of opportunities tonight.

<> Cornerbacks Kevin Fogg and B.W. Webb have battled it out all summer in a tight race for a spot on the 53 man roster. The winner may be whoever makes the most plays tonight and that includes special teams.

<> Wide Receivers Tyler Murphy and Shakim Phillips were both teammates at Boston College now they are battling for a roster spot on the Steelers.

<> The Steelers defense has lacked big plays most of the preseason. Lets watch and see if any one of the young players can step up and make some plays tonight.
