News & Notes: Steelers Training Camp , Day 6 “Friday Night Lights”

sns2  The Pittsburgh Steelers held their annual “Friday Night Lights” practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium . The night practice has become anticipated event for players and fans alike. Let’s now take a look at the news & notes of  Friday night’s practice…

<> Head Coach Mike Tomlin spoke after practice…

 Mike Tomlin: “Awesome atmosphere tonight. We really appreciate the atmosphere we have with our fans here, being able to feel that, and have them inspire us and push us through. Good practice. Loved the energy and the enthusiasm and the competition. Guys are really warming up to it and getting a sense of what we’re looking for in these designed drills and really meeting the challenge in terms of technique and intensity. Intensity is a big element in some of these scripted situations that we put the guys in.”

<> S  Gerod Holliman ,LB James Harrison, TE Heath Miller, CB Cortez Allen and S Will Allen were among  players who didn’t practice.

<> The defense prevailed during the “seven shots” 2 point conversion drill winning 4 -3.

<>  CB Antwon Blake and CB B.W.Webb both seen time with the first team defense.

<> Rookie LB Anthony Chickillo and rookie FB Roosevelt Nix were the stars of backs on backers.

Chickillo and Nix have both shown ability in recent practices and both have drawn the attention of coaches.

<> The Steelers once again brought referees to practice.
