It looks as though the NFL has changed their minds and it benefits the Pittsburgh Steelers!
The NFL announced that the Steelers will be awarded a 6th round compensatory pick ,( 212th overall) in the 2015 draft, instead of the 7th round pick (252nd overall) that was previously announced Monday at the 2015 NFL owners meetings
The NFL awards teams compensatory draft picks based on players lost or gained during the free agency period from the previous year.
The Steelers signed 5 free agents from other teams including: LeGarette Blount , Darrius Heyward-Bey, Mike Mitchell, Arthur Moats, and Cam Thomas.
The Steelers lost Ryan Clark, Jerricho Cotchery, Jonathan Dwyer,Ziggy Hood, David Johnson, Emmanuel Sanders, and Al Woods.
The NFL calculated that the Steelers should be awarded a 6th round pick based on these factors.
Keep in mind that the Steelers starting left tackle Kelvin Beachum, was a 7th round compensatory pick in 2012 and the Steelers chose Daniel McCullers as a 6th round compensatory pick last season.
So you never can underestimate the importance of these extra picks.
