Steelers Rewarded a 7th Round Compensatory Pick

images (1)The NFL is in the middle of their 2015 owners meeting in Arizona and one order of business that was recently taken care of was awarding teams compensatory draft picks.

The Steelers were rewarded a 7th round pick ,the 252nd overall in the 2015 draft.

The NFL rewards teams draft picks based on players lost or gained during the free agency period from the previous year.

The Steelers signed 5 free agents from other teams including: LeGarette Blount , Darrius  Heyward-Bey, Mike Mitchell, Arthur Moats, and Cam Thomas.

The Steelers lost Ryan Clark, Jerricho Cotchery, Jonathan Dwyer, Ziggy Hood, David Johnson, Emmanuel Sanders, and Al Woods.

The NFL calculated that the Steelers should be rewarded a 7th round pick based on these factors.

Keep in mind that the Steelers starting left tackle Kelvin Beachum, was a 7th round compensatory pick in 2012.

So you never can underestimate the importance of these extra picks.
