Well after a very quiet start to the free agent period the Steelers have now made some noise. The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed running back RB DeAngelo Williams to a two year contract.
Williams was recently cut from the Carolina Panthers after a disappointing injury filled 2014 season and to make cap room.
Williams best season was in 2008. He ran for 1,515 yards, a 5.5 yard average and 18 rushing touchdowns. He is decent catching out of the backfield with 178 career catches for 1,621 yards and 7 touchdowns.
He has a career rushing average of 4.8 and a total of 6846 yards.
The Steelers will need Williams as a veteran presence in the backfield and to fill in for Le’Veon Bell during his pending suspension.
DeAngelo Williams has ties with Steelers quarterback coach Randy Fichtner who was Williams offensive coordinator during his college career at Memphis.
Willaims was also a teammate of Steelers safety Mike Mitchell when they both played for the Carolina Panthers.
We have signed veteran RB

Excited about signing with the @Steelers! Trust me when I say that I’ve got a LOT of gas left in the tank….
