In 2014 the Steelers decided to use the transition tag on outside linebacker Jason Worilds that payed him 9.7 million dollars for the season. Worilds had a total of 7.5 sacks in 2014.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Jason Worilds find themselves in much the same predicament in 2015 as Worilds is set to become a free agent come March 10th ,but this time the Steelers have decided to take a different approach.
The Steelers have decided to let Worilds test the free agent market and will not transition tag him for 2015.
Jason Worilds is considered on of the top free agents at his position this off-season and may command a big contract on the market.
The Steelers are running thin on experienced outside linebackers and if a deal is not made with Worilds look for the Steelers to address the need in the free agent market in March.
The Steelers may also address the position in the 2015 draft at the end of April.
The Steelers need a reliable pass rushing outside linebacker going into the 2015 season and its looking more and more like Jason Worilds wont be a part of that plan.
