The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a busy off-season so far and now have added Canadian Football standout DE Shawn Lemon to the mix.
Shawn Lemon 26, 6-2, 250 was most recently a defensive end for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.Lemon recorded 13 sacks in 2014 for the Stampeders and tied a CFL league record, registering 8 forced fumbles.
Lemon played his college career for the Akron Zips were he totaled 102 career tackles, 23 for a loss, 11 sacks, five fumble recoveries and six forced fumbles .
During his Pro Day workout in 2011 Lemon ran a 4.77 40 yard dash, bench pressed 225 pounds 26 times and had a vertical jump of 32 inches.Lemon went undrafted by the NFL and began his CFL career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2011. He had a total of 22 sacks during his CFL career.
It’s widely believed that the Steelers will move Shawn Lemon to outside linebacker,a position of concern with the uncertain futures of Jason Worilds, James Harrison and Arthur Moats .
It’s way too early to tell if Shawn Lemon’s big play ability in the CFL will translate to the NFL for the Steelers, but if nothing else Shawn Lemon should provide some much needed depth at the outside linebacker position.
Blessed and thankful to be able to sign with Pittsburgh Steelers!! God is amazing !
