Steeler Nation rejoiced with the re-signing of DE Brett Keisel back in the fading days of summer and now as December football is about to begin, its with heavy hearts. Today, the Pittsburgh Steelers have officially announced that Keisel was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list with a torn triceps that he suffered in Sundays lost to the New Orleans Saints.
Keisel was playing in his 13th season as a Pittsburgh Steelers and is a fan favorite and a Steelers team leader. He played in 12 games this season starting 4,collecting 17 tackles, 12 quarterback hurries,1 sack and 5 pass defenses and an interception.
Brett Keisel will be missed on the field and in the Steelers locker room.
The Steelers signed defensive end Clifton Geathers to fill the 53 man roster spot left by the loss of Keisel.
Geathers (6-foot-8, 325 pounds) was originally a 6th round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2010 out of South Carolina. He has since played for 6 teams, Miami (2010), Dallas (2010-11), Indianapolis (2012), Philadelphia (2013) and last playing for Washington before his release November 2014.
Clifton Geathers has played in 37 career games in his five season in the NFL registering 24 tackles and a sack.
