The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Colts at Steelers

SNSGBUSteeler Nation, just when many were about to give up on the Pittsburgh Steelers and their 2014 season ,BOOM Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers come out and prove the doubters wrong with one of the best showings in a few seasons. Roethlisberger had a career best day and a passing performance that may be one of the best ever put together in an NFL game as the Steelers beat a red hot Colts team 51-34.

Let’s take a look at the Good, the Bad & the Ugly of the Steelers victory over the Colts.

The Good:

Its too bad this category isn’t called great because that’s exactly what QB Ben Roethlisberger was Sunday against the Colts. Roethlisberger was phenomenal while throwing  to 9 different pass catchers, going short, long and everything in between. He completed 40 of 49 passes for 522 yards and a whopping 6 touchdowns. Roethlisberger is the first NFL quarterback to pass for over 500 yards twice in his career.Roethlisberger once again proves he is among the most elite quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL.

WR Antonio Brown  again was at the top of his game with 10 catches for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rookie WR Martavis Bryant caught 5 passes for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bryant has become the red-zone weapon the Steelers were lacking and more.
TE Heath Miller caught 7 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown and remains to be Mr. Reliable . WR Markus Wheaton rebounded with a good showing, catching all 5 of his targets for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Running back Le’Veon Bell again showed his versatility running 24 times for 92 yards and also catching 6 passes for 56 yards. The offensive line may have played its finest game in years not giving up a sack and dominating the line of scrimmage for most of the game.
On defense the Steelers came up with big plays when needed and was a constant thorn in Andrew Luck’s side hitting the QB 12 times including 3 sacks… Two by LB James Harrison and another by Troy Polamalu . The Steelersrs also had an early interception by William Gay that he took for a touchdown. Antwon Blake had an interception late that help seal the victory. Overall it was a good showing in all phases of the game for the Steelers , with the coaching staff also coming up with a great game .

The Bad:

The Steelers played a good game but still had 10 penalties for 59 yards , that number must go down.
The benching of cornerback Cortez Allen also is concerning. Allen is often in the right position but fails to finish the play. Allen has potential to be good but must work on the fundamentals if he wants to gain his starting spot back.

The Ugly:

The Steelers played a great game and after a performance like that there is not much ugly to talk about but the late QB bootleg call could of turned out real ugly if Roethlisberger would have been injured.
