Steeler Nation, week 2 is now in the books as the Pittsburgh Steelers were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens Thursday evening 26-6. The Steelers could not get any kind of consistency out of its offense and failed to score a single touchdown..
The defense was even worse, continually giving up rushing yards and losing the battle at the line of scrimmage.
Let’s take a look at The Good,The Bad, & The Ugly of the Steelers 26-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers had very few good things happening Thursday night on offense or defense, but the play of running back Le’Veon Bell continues to be encouraging. Bell is a star in the making. He finished the game with 11 carries for 59 yards for a 5.4 yard average.. Bell also had 5 catches for 48 yards.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown caught 7 catches for 90 yards after taking a big hit early in the game and continues to be one of the leagues best.
Another player who showed some improvement in his second career NFL game was punter Brad Wing who had 4 punts for a 45.8 yard average, with 1 downed inside the 20.Wings play gives the Steelers hope, that they may have finally found a quality young punter.
The Bad was plentiful on both sides of the ball. The defense did not force a turnover, gave up plenty of big plays, had no sacks and loss the battle of the line of scrimmage most of the night. The Ravens ran for 157 total yards and a 4.4 yard average. The Steelers defense continues to be dreadful against the run.
The Steelers offense was inconsistent throughout the night and did not reach the end zone. The Steelers turned over the football three times ,fumbling twice and Ben Roethlisberger also threw an interception. The lack of offensive scoring power and inconsistent play was among the most disappointing factors of the game.
The fact that none of the Steelers free agent signings have made a positive impact through two games of this season is starting to look pretty ugly. However, that the Steelers have been out scored 50 to 9 in the last 6 quarters of play, not scoring a touchdown in that span of time and the, defense has not had a turnover in two games paints an even uglier picture for the start of the 2014 season. The Steelers must regroup during this extra time off and improve on both offense and defense.
