The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to gear up for the 2014 season as they take on the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field in the home opener game,Sunday. Lets take a look at the news and notes heading into the game..
<> Linebacker James Harrison announced his retirement from the NFL FrIday. The Steelers held a press conference on the South-side and signed Harrison to a one day deal to make his retirement as a Pittsburgh Steelers official. Here is some of what Harrison had to say today…
James Harrison: “To get the opportunity to come back and officially end it as a Steeler feels good, It’s where I started, got my break and had the majority of my success. It’s a good feeling. For them to give me the opportunity and want me to come back, I am thankful. The Steelers organization has been very good to me. I am thankful for everything the Rooneys and the organization has done for me. I am thankful for the fans. I will tell you that right now, there is no group that is more loyal and knowledgeable than Steelers Nation. Right now I am thankful to have this opportunity.
Harrison played 10 seasons with the Steelers and 11 in the NFL. He was voted to five consecutive Pro Bowls 2007-2011 and was named Steelers team MVP in 2007 and 2008.
Harrison had 16 sacks in 2008 and was named the NFL Defensive player of the year. That was the Steelers 2008 Super Bowl season were Harrison returned his now famous interception for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII , a key play and turning point that help bring the Steelers Super Bowl title #6. James Harrison finished his Steelers career ranked 4th all-time in sacks with 64 sacks.

<> Steelers Injury report as of Friday…
Out: Cornerback Brice McCain (groin), Wide Receiver Lance Moore (groin).
Doubtful: Wide receiver Martavis Bryant (shoulder).
Questionable: C Cody Wallace (finger).
Probable: Tight end Matt Spaeth (hamstring), linebacker Sean Spence (knee), long snapper Greg Warren (knee).
<> The Steelers plan to use wide receiver Antonio Brown as a punt returner in Sunday’s match up against the Browns.
<>The Steelers will honor the late great coach Chuck Noll Sunday with the team wearing a “CHN” decal on their helmets the entire 2014 season. Chairman Dan Rooney will present a commemorative helmet displaying the “CHN” decal to Noll’s wife, Marianne, and son, Chris. There will also be a video tribute to Chuck Noll at half-time.
<> The Steelers expect to see quarterback Johnny Manziel on the field in special packages Sunday and have prepared for both Manziel and starting quarterback Brian Hoyer .
<> The Steelers have signed cornerback Cortez Allen to a four year extension. Allen is now signed through the 2018 season.
<> With wide receiver Lance Moore(groin) out for Sunday’s game WR Justin Brown is expected to be the next man up.
