News & Notes: Steelers Training Camp Day 11

SNSThe Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their final practice before the start of the 2014 preseason. Practice 11 is now in the books and things are about to heat up. Here are Thursdays’ training camp news and notes.

<>Troy Polamalu ,Antonio Brown, and Cam Heyward were notable players given the day off.Nothing real serious just a maintenance day.

<> Rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (concussion)remained sidelined .

<> Linebacker Jarvis Jones (groin) returned to practice.

<> Wide Receiver Martavis Bryant continues to impress catching a couple of long passes. Bryant has really come on strong this past week in the red-zone and as a deep threat.

<> Wide Receiver Justin Brown continued to be on of the most consistent players on the field. He has shown great improvement from last season and at this point has a great chance as the #4 wideout.

<> Nose Tackle rookie Dan McCullers shows great potential and has a real shot at making this team. He is just a huge force in the middle and seems to be very coach-able.He still has a ways to go but he has shown ability to get the job done.

<> One player to keep an eye on is Outside Linebacker Howard Jones. Once considered a long shot. he has come on strong at camp and  practiced with the second team defense. It will be interesting to see how he preforms this preseason.

<> WR/RB Dri Archer spent his practice time with the running backs Thursday and continues to be the number one option on punt returns.

<> Punter Brad Wing can really boom the football. His hang time was once again outstanding. Should be fun to see how he does in Saturday nights game.
