The Pittsburgh Steelers were back at it Wednesday after having Tuesday off. They have now reached double digit days at camp. Lets take a look at the news & notes of day 10.
<> On the injury front NT Steve Mclendon missed his 4th day with what was confirmed as a concussion. OLB Jarvis Jones(groin) and ILB Ryan Shazier (knee) also missed practice. Other notables that missed practice was G Ramon Foster and WR Lance Moore neither player is thought to have any serious injuries.
<> Right tackle Marcus Gilbert went down in practice with a foot injury. It is not thought to be anything serious. Mike Adams took his place and did a good job by all reports especially on run plays. Adams needs all the positive plays he can get.
<>With Ryan Shazier out Sean Spence played with the first team and impressed. He continues to have a good camp, has made every practice and looks fully recovered from his knee injury. This is fantastic news for Sean Spence who is a testament to what hard work and dedication can bring you.
<> LB Terence Garvin had another good practice making plays all over the practice field. The Steelers seem stacked with talent at the inside linebacker position. A much needed upgrade from last season.
<>The Steelers have signed James Shaw and waived/injured wide receiver Danny Coale Shaw will wear #88.
<>Coach Mike Tomlin spoke after practice…
Mike Tomlin: “Our work was not as good today as it had been other days, a little sloppy –some pre-snap penalties on defense, some dropped balls on offense, I acknowledge from time to time that you’re going to have those days, but you can’t like it and you can’t stack them one after another. So we’re going to challenge this group to come back out and have a more productive day tomorrow”
Tweets of the Day…
Dick LeBeau on his prized rookies: “I think Ryan (Shazier) is going to start and I could see (Stephon) Tuitt playing an awful lot of snaps.”
Shazier’s “Boo Boo” has now kept him out of second practice.
Ramon Foster, Lance Moore look to be getting maintenance days today.
Sean Spence in for Shazier; Chris Carter in for Jarvis
Good to see Aaron Smith and Byron Leftwich at practice today.
Mike Adams started at RT today and helped seal the edge for long LeVeon Bell TD jaunt first
#Steelers snap. Looked good in run game.
