Steeler Nation , now that free agency is into full swing and the 2014 NFL Draft is right around the bend, the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced official dates for their 2014 Offseason Program,rookie orientation, OTAs and Mini camp.
The Steelers will begin their 2014 offseason program April 22 and activities are limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only,according to Collective Bargaining Agreement rules. This will consist of a two week period.
The next three weeks of the program can consist of On-field workouts, may include individual player instruction and drills as well as team practice conducted on what the CBA refers to as a “separates” basis. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted. This starts May 5 and up to the Memorial Day weekend.
The NFL Draft will kick off in May this season and will run from May 8th through the 10th. The Steelers will hold their rookie orientation the weekend of May 16th through the 18th.
The official date for OTAs begins May 27th. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of Organized Team practice Activity. There is no live contact permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are allowed. Steelers OTAs dates are as follows May 27, May 28, May 29, June 3, June 4, June 5, June 9, June 10, June 11, and June 12.
The Steelers end up their offseason program with a mandatory three day Mini Camp that runs from June 17th to the 19th.
The Steelers will then be off till training camp begins in July.
