The Pittsburgh Steelers announced today that they have placed the transition tag on outside linebacker Jason Worilds . Worilds is expected to be a hot commodity as one of the top free agent players available at his position when free agency kicks off on March 11th .
Jason Worilds was drafted by the Steelers in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. He has 121 tackles (90 solo), 18 sacks and three forced fumbles while starting 21-of-57 regular season games.
Worilds had his best season as a Pro in 2013 registering 54 tackles, 8 sacks and 2 forced fumbles .
The transition tag gives the Steelers the right of first refusal to match any offer sheet Worilds may receive from another team.
