The Pittsburgh Steelers have hired James Saxon as their new running back coach. Saxon comes to the Steelers after coaching the Minnesota Vikings running backs for the past three seasons. He also had coaching stints for the Miami Dolphins (2008-10), Kansas City Chiefs (2001-07) and Buffalo Bills (2000).
Saxon has spent 23 years in the NFL as a player or coach. James Saxon was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He spent 8 seasons as a running back playing for the Chiefs (1988-91),the Dolphins (1992-94) and the Philadelphia Eagles (1995).
The Steelers began their search for a new running back coach after Kirby Wilson asked to be let go to take over Saxon’s old spot with the Minnesota Vikings.
