On Sunday night, Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley injured his calf and was taken out from the game. On Tuesday, the Steelers announced they would be placing Woodley on the reserve/injured list — making Woodley’s season come to an end.
Woodley has started 11 games in 2013 at outside linebacker, but missed three weeks in a row earlier in the season to a similar injury. Woodley has missed time in the previous three seasons due to injuries.
To fill the roster spot, the Steelers signed linebacker Jamaal Westerman from free agency. Westerman is a five-year pro from Rutgers who has spent time with the Bills, Jets, Colts, and Cardinals. Westerman was originally undrafted in 2009 but has played in 57 career games and has made three starts.
