The Good, The Bad & The Ugly : Dolphins At Steelers

SNSGBUSteeler Nation , the Steelers are now 5-8 after a disappointing loss to the Dolphins 34-28 at Heinz Field.  The Steelers now have very little hope to make the playoffs. Let’s take a look at the Good,Bad & the Ugly of the game.

The Good:

Outside linebacker Jason Worilds continued to impress. Worilds had 8 tackles, 3 for a loss, including two quarterback sacks.Worilds now has 8 sacks for the season in a limited starting role through 13 games. Jason Worilds has now become the Steelers top pass rusher and is making a big case to be resigned.

Defensive end Cam Heyward was once again a major factor on the defense. He led the Steelers with 10 tackles, including a sack , a quarterback hit, a tackle for a loss, and a batted down pass. Heyward has been on fire since becoming a full time starter and deserves Pro Bowl consideration.Worilds and Heyward have been major bright spots on an otherwise disappointing Steeler defense.

On offense,  wide receiver Antonio Brown continues to be the Steelers biggest play-maker.Brown caught 5 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown.Brown also almost pulled off a miracle finish.Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had a quarterback rating of 114.2 completing  23-of-39 for 349 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Bad:

The Steelers defense continues to give up big plays at inopportune times. The defense gave up 181 yards rushing  to the Dolphins .The Dolphins averaged a whopping 7.5 yards per rushing attempt and had two runs of over 40 yards The Steelers run defense has been sub-par most of the season and this was one of their worse showings yet.

The Steelers offense continues to show little rhythm or flow on key drives and still lacks consistency after 13 games. Whether or not it’s play calling or players mistakes the Steelers have to find answers and quick. Expect some major changes at season’s end.

The Ugly:

The Steelers continued to start slow, making early mistakes and having to dig themselves out only to come up short when it counts. A  far too familiar theme this season.  The ugly truth is the Steelers have lost to some very bad teams and have been nothing but inconsistent in all phases of the game for most of the 2013 season. Over the next three games the Steelers have some tough decisions to make with both players and coaches . The evaluation period has begun It’s either shape up or ship out . Time will  soon tell who stays and who goes.
