Steeler Nation, shortly after the Steelers fell to 0-4 in London, Mike Tomlin made a statement…
“I have great patience. We’ll continue to work and get better as long as I see belief and effort and continued improvement in detail because that’s what’s going to change the outcome of these games.
Those who don’t, they won’t be a part of it, whoever it may be. It’s just that simple.”
Well it looks as though Tomlin’s patience have finally worn thin as he has made changes on both the offensive and defensive lines.
Left tackle Mike Adams has been demoted to third team after his poor showing in week four. Taking Adams’ starting spot on the depth chart is Kelvin Beachum. Beachum has been very versatile this season filling in at center, guard and now starting at left tackle.
Newly acquired Levi Brown begins as the second team left tackle as he settles in as the newest Pittsburgh Steeler.
Tomlin spoke about Levi Brown and his role on the team at his press conference Tuesday…
Tomlin: “He is still working to establish a role, still working to make him familiar with our football,” said Tomlin of Brown, “We just had one day of on the field work. His presence is needed and valued. He is a battle tested guy. “
On the defensive side of the ball it was announced defensive end Cam Heyward is now the starter over Ziggy Hood. Heyward has played well in a limited role and the coaches want him on the field more. Ziggy Hood will still be in the rotation but in a lesser role.
Tomlin spoke about Heyward and his move into the starting line up …
Tomlin:“He will play more and deservedly so,” said Tomlin of Heyward. “He has played really solid. Not taking anything away from Ziggy, both guys will continue to play. We just want Cam to play more than he has been playing and in order to to insure that we are going to put him in the starting lineup.”
Steeler Nation,it looks like Mike Tomlin is backing up his words with action. Now lets see it these actions bring winning results.
