Steelers News & Notes 9/25/13

SNS News&NotesThe Steelers are in the middle of week four preparing for a game abroad as they take on the Minnesota Vikings in London England Sunday . Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference Tuesday and had some good news on the injury front. Lets take a look at the news and notes of the week…

Mike Tomlin spoke about the health of the team…

Mike Tomlin: “If you look at us from an injury standpoint going into this game we’re the best that we’ve been,”

Tomlin on the play and health of Heath Miller

Mike Tomlin:“We were on a pitch count if you will in terms of the amount of snaps we gave him,” said Tomlin. “He performed well. We will continue to move forward hopefully this week with no restrictions whatsoever and let him continue to work his way back to health and help us at the tight end position.”

Look for two major returns as both RB Le’Veon Bell and CB Cortez Allen are expected to play  in Sunday’s game. This will be Bell’s debut game in the NFL.

The Steelers will not leave for London until Thursday. The Vikings have already arrived in London earlier this week. Mike Tomlin spoke on the subject…

Mike Tomlin:“It’s purely a business trip for me personally,” said Tomlin. “This is just a road game for us. We are happy to represent the NFL in international play. But in terms of what it is that we are doing, our level of focus and the things that we need to do in preparation and in play, it’s just a road game for us.”

“I think traveling on Thursday night and getting there on Friday morning will provide us enough opportunity to adjust to the time difference,” said Tomlin. “A lot of West Coast teams that travel to the East Coast do two-day travels and that’s appropriate. I value normalcy in the early portions of the week from a preparation standpoint and from a practice standpoint.”

Tomlin and guard Ramon Foster met to discuss the offensive lines play and  suggest pointers on how to lead players in the right way…

Ramon Foster:  “You don’t want to be a leader in this sport and in this group and talk down to guys,” Foster said. “You’ve got to be able to coach and motivate guys, and I went to him to get some advice about that.”

On Wednesday everyone participated in practice but Brett Keisel (Hamstring)

WR Antonio Brown  was fined in excess of $16K for 2 personal fouls in the game against the  Bears.

Here are some interesting tweets….
