Steeler Nation , we all knew it was just a matter of time. Rookie outside linebacker Jarvis Jones will make his first NFL start Monday night in Prime time against the Cincinnati Bengals . Jones has been splitting time with Jason Worilds and it seems has now moved ahead with Monday’s start.
Jones spoke after yesterday’s practice where he had reps with the 1st team. Here is some of what he had to say from Steelers.com…
Jones: “That’s the way it is right now,” said Jones. “As long as I continue to keep doing what I’m doing, I hope it stays like that.”
“It’s my dream, it’s something I definitely want to do is start and be in that rotation and fight with my guys,” said Jones. “Any role that I can contribute to helping my team win, whether it’s starting or co-starting or coming off the bench, I’m going to accept it and play to the best of my ability.
“At the end of the day, I can’t control anything, as far as the coach’s decision. The only thing I can do is put my work out there, put my resume out there.”
Look for there still to be a rotation of Jones and Worilds even with Jones now starting. Jones has shown big play ability all through the pre-season and the season opener and is only going to get better with more playing time.
This may be the spark that the Steelers defense needs for more big plays Monday night and the rest of the season.
