Steeler Nation , the Steelers are about to begin preparing for week 2 opponent the Cincinnati Bengals and try to redeem themselves after last week’s dismal performance. Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference today. Here are news and notes.
Larry Foote had bicep surgery today. Maurkice Pouncey will have knee surgery Thursday and LaRod Stephens-Howling will have knee surgery on Wednesday .
Kelvin Beachum is scheduled to start at center ahead of Fernando Velasco . The Steelers have yet to get Fernando Velasco familiar with the offense and will know more after seeing how fast he can pick things up.
The Steelers plan on increasing TE Heath Miller ‘s work load in practice this week. Tomlin: . “We’ll have a better understanding of where he is after a full day’s work on Wednesday.”
Tomlin :K Shaun Suisham hamstring not severe “he has a chance” this week .” Shayne Graham a “kicking option.”
Inside Linebacker Kion Wilson will start for Larry Foote Rookie Vince Williams may see some playing time.
Lawrence Timmons will make the calls on defense. He will have helmet headset on and get calls directly from the coaches.
Tomlin had this to say about RB Le’Veon Bell… He is working his way back, but no real update yet.
CB Cortez Allen (ankle) will not practice early in the week but may later after it’s known how his ankle is responding to treatment.
RB Isaac Redman will once again start this week and get a chance to redeem himself after last week’s poor performance.
The outside linebacker rotation will continue with Jarvis Jones, Jason Worilds now listed as co-starters at OLB.
