Steeler Nation, the Steelers returned to practice on the South side today. It was their first practice since returning from training camp and the first practice since that terrible display Monday night at Washington. Here are some news and notes from Wednesday.
The news on Le’Veon Bell‘s injured foot may not be good. There have been reports that it’s a Lisfranc sprain and the Steelers are hoping it will heal without surgery. Even without surgery Bell could miss 6-8 weeks if reports ring true. Coach Tomlin would not comment on the injury and said he will address the injuries at his Thursday press conference.
There was some good news on the injury front as the Steelers activated tight end David Johnson from the PUP list. The Steelers are dreadfully thin at tight end and the activation of David Johnson is a welcomed sight.
Running back Isaac Redman says he plans to play this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs. Redman missed last weeks game while recovering from a (stinger/shoulder) injury. Redman’s return is right on time considering Bell’s injury.
Alan Robinson / TribLive.com reports that Coach Tomlin did have referees at Wednesday’s practice. After all the penalty yards the Steelers have racked up the past two pre-season games it looks like Tomlin felt the players may need a little reminder of the rules.
In other news Former Steeler great Jerome Bettis will be joining ESPN this fall as an NFL analyst.
Here are some interesting tweets from Wednesday…..
