Steeler Nation, the Steelers are counting down their last days of camp. Two more practices are left as camp comes to a close August 17th. The Steelers will then go back to practicing at their normal practice facility on the South Side of Pittsburgh. Here are some news and notes from today’s practice.
The practice day started out on a physical note with RB Isaac Redman going down with a stinger (pinched nerve) in his shoulder. Redman was sidelined the rest of practice but it is does not appear to be any thing serious.
The big story was when rookie RB Le Veon Bell went down after re-aggravating his knee injury. Bell spent the rest of practice with his leg iced down on the sidelines. He left practice with a noticeable limp.
Coach Mike Tomlin said the injuries where not thought to be serious and would be further evaluated.
There was a report today the Steelers are still not working on extending any contracts. Time is running out on those who want an extension. The Steelers cut off any contract talks when the season begins.
Defensive end Al Woods continues to impress both at defensive end and the nose tackle position. He is moving up and now almost a sure thing to make the roster.
Former Steeler offensive lineman Tunch Ilkin has been working with the linebackers on hand techniques. Ilkin says Lawrence Timmons is phenomenal with his technique.
