Steeler Nation, during training camp many of the Steelers rookies of 2013 have shown great promise . Especially at the top of the draft class. Rookies like LB Jarvis Jones, RB Le’Veon Bell, WR Markus Wheaton and S Shamarko Thomas so far have exceeded expectations. It’s still early in the evaluation process and a lot can happen before the start of the season, but its easy to see the potential the Steelers seen in these players on draft day.
Saturday night’s pre-season game against the New York Giants will be the next step in the evaluation process. Now Mike Tomlin and his coaching staff get to see these players in NFL game action against players other than their teammates.
All four players should see significant playing time.
Will Jarvis Jones continue to make strides on his quest to become the Steelers starting outside linebacker his rookie season ?
Will running back Le’Veon Bell show he has what it takes to be a feature back in the NFL as a rookie?
Will wide receiver Markus Wheaton show the speed and receiving skills that the Steelers hoped for when taking him in the third round ?
Will Shamarko Thomas continue to show he has the skills to finally give the Steelers a quality backup plan behind Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark ?
Saturday night’s game will not answer these questions , but should begin to shed some light on the situation.
The Steelers rookies are about to take the next step in the evaluation process. Steeler Nation get ready it should be an interesting game !
