Steeler Nation, the Steelers held their annual Friday night practice at St. Vincent college and over 18,000 fans showed up and were not disappointed. The players and coaches signed autographs and then took the field. Here are some news and notes from Friday nights practice.
On the injury front CB Cortez Allen ( knee), had minor surgery on his knee and should be out a couple of weeks or so. It was confirmed G Nik Embernate has a torn ACL and MCL . Demarcus Van Dyke(Hamstring) and Terry Hawthorne (knee) continued to sit out of practice. LB Jason Worlids (toe) also missed Friday’s practice. Linebacker LaMarr Woodley practiced tonight after being limited with calf discomfort on Thursday.
The 1st team tackles switched positions Mike Adams worked at left tackle . Marcus Gilbert at right tackle. This may be a sign of things to come.
William Gay played the nickel package and Curtis Brown at corner with Cortez Allen out. Brown did not have his best showing.
Running Back Le’Veon Bell continued to show he is the real deal in front of the Latrobe crowd. Showing why the Steelers chose him in this years draft . It seems that the running back job is his to lose.
Mike Golic Jr. saw reps at guard and reportedly looked better as that was the position he played in college.
Troy Polamalu made a great pass defense at the goal line during 2 minute drills looking like Troy Polamalu of a few years back.
Guard Ramon Foster continues to have a good camp. This young line has the potential to be something special.
