The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up a four week offseason program for the development of the football team. Practice on Tuesday and Wednesday were the first mandatory practices of the year, and on Thursday, coach Mike Tomlin cancelled practice to give players a head start on summer vacation. Here is a recap of what took place this week in Pittsburgh.
Attendance: Everyone attended mandatory minicamp including safeties Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark who missed the majority of OTA’s. The only player who was unable to attend mandatory minicamp was rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton. Wheaton is finishing up class at Oregon State and will be graduating very soon.
Offense: Running back Baron Batch is a work of art. Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer are fighting for their NFL lives. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger talks terminology of offense. Dwyer will workout with running backs Maurice Jones-Drew and Matt Forte. Steelers signed quarterback Landry Jones.
