The Steelers took the day off of practice on Monday to head to Dave & Buster’s, a fun arcade to help the team bond. In the process, the Steelers’ front office made a move today. The Steelers signed undrafted tight end Peter Tuitupou after placing Zack Pianalto on Waivered/Injured list. Both players were undrafted.
Tuitupou has just 14 receptions during his two years at San Jose State. In 2012, he averaged 17.1 yards a reception on 9 catches. His longest went for 35 yards in a competition against Utah State. Tuitupou failed to get a receiving touchdown in his two years with the Spartans.
Tuitupou began his college career at the University of Utah but did not play football. He is a communication studies major and also was enrolled at Washington State University, and again did not play football.
Needless to say, the 6’4″ 246 pound tight end has a long ways to go if he wants to make the football team, but the Steelers have given him a shot. We will see what he can do with it.
