The Pittsburgh Steelers will be gearing up for their third and final week of organized team activities. The men in black and gold will be attending four days of practice this week before mandatory minicamp, which will take place June 11-13. When the Steelers offensive line get to work on Monday, they will be without right tackle Mike Adams. Adams was stabbed two times on Saturday morning, but is expected to make a recovery in six weeks. Who will move into the right tackle role while Adams is gone? Kevin Beachum is the swing guy, but has been working at center. Will Guy Whimper be taking snaps with the first team this week?
Every week, I pay close attention to the progression of the running backs. The running game is assumed to be a big part of what the Steelers plan on executing in the 2013 season. Every running back on the football team is looking for extra snaps. With two weeks of practice before training camp in late July, which running back will progress the most?
Will attendance continue to stay the same? Last week, Ryan Clark, Troy Polamalu, and Ike Taylor missed time. I am not expecting the two safeties (Clark and Polamalu) to be there until next week when practice becomes mandatory. We will keep track of who is there, and who is not.
Another four days of football in shorts this week in Pittsburgh. Remember, these organized team activities have no hitting involved. It is a time for the players to get their technique down by training camp where the pads will be put on and the hitting will take place. We will cover all of the Steelers’ latest moves in OTA’s this week so keep coming back to Steelers N Stuff!
