Not long after the fourth round of the NFL Draft started, we got news coming from the league. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is reporting that the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to trade running back Jonathan Dwyer. Steeler nation, we are heading into the third and final day of the NFL Draft. Three rounds have already passed and a total of 97 selections have been made. Rounds 4-7 will start at 12:00 P.M. eastern today. With four rounds remaining, there is still plenty of talent on the board. It is were champions are made.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have found plenty of talent late in the NFL Draft. The most recent being wide receiver Antonio Brown from Central Michigan. Brown was a sixth round pick, 197th overall. We can not forget some of the others that have been selected past the first three rounds like: Ike Taylor (4th, 125 overall), Aaron Smith (4th, 109 overall), Greg Lloyd (6th, 150 overall), Mike Webster (5th, 125), Ernie Holmes (8th, 203), Willie Parker (undrafted, and James Harrison (undrafted).
Who are the best available today? Well I will take you through who the Steelers may consider in the last day of the NFL Draft. The Steelers have five picks today from rounds 4-7 (Two picks in 6th). Remember, after the draft is over, the undrafted rookie free agency period begins. Allowing teams to make calls to sign players who were not selected and give them a contract to be on a team. Day two of the NFL Draft has come to an end and the Pittsburgh Steelers have added three new players to their roster from the draft. In the first round they selected outside linebacker Jarvis Jones. In the second, they took running back Le’veon Bell. Now in round three the Steelers walk away with wide receiver Markus Wheaton from Oregon State.
As the second round ends, the Pittsburgh Steelers came away with a running back in round two. While Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin were still available, the Steelers decided to take Le’Veon Bell from Michigan State. The Steelers have had two straight seasons missing a 1,000 yard running back. Many would say that they have gotten away from the way they play football. Coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert will try to change that by adding Bell.
