Steeler Nation we are hours from the NFL Draft. It has been said that “Choices are the hinges of destiny.” The destiny of the Pittsburgh Steelers hinges on the choices that GM Kevin Colbert and his staff make in the 2013 NFL draft.
Just think what the Steelers destiny may have been if they never chose Troy Polamalu or Ben Roethlisberger. Lucky for us, the Steelers made the right choices and lets hope that they continue to choose wisely this draft.
The importance of this draft has been intensified by a failed 2008 draft . Gone is every player from the 2008 draft (Rd 1.Mendenhall; Rd 2 Sweed; Rd 3 Davis to name a few). This should be the time the 2008 players hit their prime instead the Steelers have nothing to show for the 2008 draft class.
Many have began to question Kevin Colbert’s draft expertise and in my opinion unfairly. Was the 2008 draft a bad ? Overall yes it was a bad draft but the Steelers did get a couple of quality years out of Mendenhall.
Kevin Colbert’s track record still is among the best in the NFL. Colbert has many more hits than misses and every GM has a few bad drafts, that’s just the nature of the NFL draft.
Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, Casey Hampton, Heath Miller, Ike Taylor ,
Brett Keisel, Larry Foote and Maurkice Pouncey are just a few of Colbert’s successful picks.
I will agree that Colbert needs to have a successful draft in 2013 or the Steelers may be in trouble for years to come.
The hits must out number the misses and Colbert and the Steelers need a home run . I believe they are up to the task . How about you, what’s your opinion? Will Colbert and the Steelers have a great draft?
